7/8 is bigger because if you multiply it by 2 it is 14/16 so it is bigger than 9/16

7*2/8*2 = 14/16
14/16 and 9/16
Now since we have a common denominator, we can compare the numerators.
14/16 is greater, so 7/8 is greater than 9/16
