Lincoln referring with the words "all else" in the second inagural adress
As Lincoln prepared to speak, the Civil War was drawing to a close. Newspapers were filled with reports of the armies of William T. Sherman and Ulysses S. Grant.
Lincoln´s main goal for Reconstruction was basically to bring back the South into the Union fast, attaining a just and lasting peace, but reinforcing the importance of the continuation of the pre-ocupation for former slaves.
