According to Thomas hobbes, all individuals have our own drives to selfishly pursue our own desire. This desires exist ever since we are born  and become a a part of nature.
In order to maintain social order, Hobbes believe that the society need to force the people to follow a social contract. This contract regulates the things that considered to be 'right' and 'wrong' in that society. Those who violate the contract need to receive some sort of punishment. Â (such as jail or fine)
